High-Density Racking Systems
Do you store a lot of the same product? Then a high-density racking system could be for you. A major benefit of a high-density racking system is that you can eliminate multiple aisles, reducing your footprint and potentially saving a bundle on warehouse rental space.
First In First Out
Last In First Out or LIFO racking systems are as the name suggests; the last pallet in will be the first pallet out. Any pallet loaded into the system can only be removed when the pallets loaded after have been removed. These best suit applications where you have products with long life spans and cold rooms. Examples of LIFO racking systems include drive-In, push back and double deep racking.
Drive-In Racking
Drive-in racking is designed so that forklifts can drive into the system to add and remove pallets and are built two to ten pallets deep. Pallets are placed on side rails attached to the pallet racking uprights instead of beams. This system can be operated with a standard forklift.
Push Back Racking
Push back racking is a cart and track system where the track is on an incline and is built two to six pallets deep. When a new pallet is placed into the system, it will push the pallets behind up the track. When a pallet is removed, gravity will bring the pallets behind to the front of the system. This system can be operated with a standard forklift.
Double Deep Racking
Double deep racking is two pallets deep accessible from one side. Double deep racking systems can be placed back to back, making them four rows deep and minimising footprint taken up by aisles. A forklift with longer tynes is required to remove and place the pallet at the back of the system.
First In First Out
First in first out or FIFO racking solutions are also as the name suggests, the first pallet in is the first pallet out. FIFO racking is great for perishable/limited shelf-life items or for warehouse scenarios where you want to load from one end and remove from the other. Examples of FIFO racking include selective pallet racking and pallet flow racking.
Pallet Flow Racking
Pallet flow racking systems are built with roller tracks on a decline. Pallets are loaded from the rear, and gravity brings pallets forward on the roller tracks. This system can be operated with a standard forklift.
Selective Pallet Racking
Selective pallet racking is your base racking system and is great for scenarios that require access to each pallet at any time. These racking systems are built one pallet deep and can be installed back to back to reduce the need for additional aisles. This system can be operated with a standard forklift.
