Push Back & Double Deep Racking
Double deep pallet racking is an economical way to maximise storage capacity in your warehouse. It is essentially similar to regular pallet racking, but there is a key difference: instead of being able to access only 1 pallet from 1 side, you can store a second pallet behind it. This allows you to double your storage capacity while maintaining the same amount of aisles.
You need a ‘reach fork truck’ with tines that extend out to reach the depth of the second pallet. This kind of forklift is quite common and easy to find, so this option will rarely involve any extra costs.
The Benefits of Double Deep Racking
A double deep pallet racking system is a great solution for some warehouses, especially those that have numerous pallets of the same stock. You would generally store the same items – one in front of the other – allowing maximum storage with minimal risk of any confusion or misplacements.
Clients who choose this system also have the option of using pallet guides. These are lengths of steel that run from the front of the rack all the way through to the back. This creates a guide for the pallets to travel down, ensuring they are square and sit properly on the racking system.
MACRACK double deep racking is a LIFO (Last In First Out) system.
We also offer another LIFO system called push back racking, which you can read about below.
Push Back Racking
Push back racking uses a moving cart system where pallets sit on carriages. This dynamic system relies on the simple force of gravity, allowing the pallets to roll forward once the front pallet ahead of it is removed. As such, the front locations up and down the aisles always have a pallet in them unless the whole track is empty.
MACRACK Push back racking is a LIFO (Last In First Out) system.
This front-only loading system is well suited for warehouses and situations where there is a narrow space to fill. For example, this could be perfect in a narrow corridor or if you want to fill a whole back section of a room as it truly maximises space without necessarily requiring aisles.
Push Back Racking Customised to Meet Your Needs
The carriages can be 2-10 pallets deep, and you can have as many across as you like. You can also request your system to incorporate multiple levels. No matter how high, wide or deep your ideal racking system would be, we can tailor the perfect solution for you.
At its core, this is a system designed for warehouses with a large amount of similar product. The most effective and logical way to benefit from push back racking is to store identical or similar items in each carriage system/location. This simplifies stock locations, preventing products from getting mixed up or lost.
