QLD Government - Conservation Park Racking
Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation
Macrack supplied and installed a complete storage fit-out for a remote Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation work base used by Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service.
The site was more like a workshop warehouse than a traditional warehouse. It needed to store a mix of mechanical and farm equipment, small parts, consumables, and longer materials used for ongoing maintenance and repairs across government and council sites.
Although the sheds were newly built, there was still nowhere proper to store a lot of the equipment and materials being kept onsite. Too much was ending up on the ground, which was taking away valuable floor space and making the facility harder to work in day to day. The goal was to maximise the storage within the sheds, get goods up off the floor, and create a more practical working environment.

Cantilever Racking

Selective Pallet Racking

Industrial Racking
Tailored Racking and Shelving for Mixed Storage
To do that, Macrack supplied a tailored mix of storage systems to suit the products being stored. The fit-out included selective pallet racking, industrial racking and galvanised cantilever racking. The pallet racking provided around 36 pallet spaces, while the industrial racking and shelving gave the site dedicated storage for smaller parts and workshop items. For longer products, Macrack also supplied a seven metre cantilever system for storing timber, steel and pipe outdoors.
The pallet racking was configured to also be used as industrial racking with mesh decks, giving the site a practical and more universal storage solution. Rather than trying to force everything into one type of system or use case, the layout was built around what the site actually needed to store and how the facility needed to function.
This project came through tender, with Australian-made supply strongly preferred. Macrack was able to supply Australian-made selective racking, install it, and certify it on completion so the site was ready for immediate use. That was important for a government project where the final layout needed to be practical, compliant and approved once the installation was complete.
A Practical Storage Fit-Out for a Remote Site
The location itself also came with its own challenges. It was remote enough that delivery had to be organised from a pin drop rather than a standard street address, which gives you a fair idea of the kind of site this was.
The end result was a more organised and usable remote storage facility with better use of vertical space, more open floor area, and a storage setup suited to the mix of palletised goods, workshop items and longer materials being kept onsite.
For a rural work base, that matters. When you are remote, you cannot just run down to the local store. You need equipment, spare parts and materials stored properly, easy to access and ready when they are needed.
This project is a good example of Macrack’s approach. Start with what the customer is actually trying to store, how the site needs to work, and then build the right storage solution around it.

Some Of Our Racking Projects

JAT Coldstores
Double Deep Racking is an efficient solution for storing pallets in a limited space, allowing JAT to double their storage capacity in the same number of aisles.

Parmalat
Parmalat’s production facility requires a wide range of storage systems, as they deal with their product from a raw stage through to full distribution.

NIOA
Using a 4 levels raised storage area, Macrack was able to essentially grow NIOA’s floor space the equivalent of an extra 3 football fields, with shelving throughout.
