All Purpose Coatings
Pallet Racking Fitouts for All Purpose Coatings Across Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne
All Purpose Coatings has continued to grow across Australia, with warehouse locations supporting their floor coatings products, raw materials and trade supply network. As that growth continued, they needed a racking partner that could help them increase pallet storage across multiple sites without overcomplicating the way each warehouse worked.
Macrack first worked with All Purpose Coatings at their Bundamba site in Queensland. That initial project involved drive-in racking, which is one of the areas Macrack specialises in. From there, the relationship continued to build.
As Michael from Macrack explained, “The drive-in racking is what got us in the gate, then our customer service is what’s kept us there since.”
Since that first project, Macrack has continued to support All Purpose Coatings with additional warehouse racking at Bundamba, Sydney and Hallam in Melbourne Victoria.
About All Purpose Coatings
“All Purpose Coatings (APC) is a family-owned national company specialising in the design, formulation and manufacture of premium protective floor coatings for residential, commercial, industrial and government sectors.”
Their business supports flooring contractors, applicators, trade customers and customers looking for specialist flooring products. With raw materials, finished products and training support moving through the business, their warehouses need to keep a wide range of palletised stock organised, accessible and ready to move efficiently.
For Macrack, the job was not about forcing the same racking system into every warehouse. It was about understanding how All Purpose Coatings operates, what each location needed, and choosing the right racking solution for that site.
Starting at Bundamba
The relationship began at All Purpose Coatings’ Bundamba site in Queensland.
At that stage, the site needed a higher-density storage solution for selected high-volume products. The available footprint was limited, and using selective racking for everything was not going to be the best use of space.
Macrack recommended drive-in racking for that part of the warehouse. By using drive-in racking, All Purpose Coatings could store more product in a smaller footprint with fewer forklift aisles.
As Michael explained, the drive-in racking suited the site because there was high-volume product that could be stored more densely. It was the right fit for that part of the operation.
That first project helped build trust between the two businesses. It ran smoothly, solved the storage requirement and gave All Purpose Coatings confidence to continue working with Macrack on future warehouse projects.
Additional Pallet Storage at Bundamba
As All Purpose Coatings continued to grow, Macrack was later brought back into the Bundamba site to provide additional selective pallet racking.
This was an existing location, so the goal was not a full new warehouse fitout. It was about adding more capacity to support the growth of the business and the manufacturing process already happening on site.
The later Bundamba expansion added another 432 pallet spaces using selective pallet racking.
Selective racking made sense for this stage of the project because it provided direct access to pallets and allowed the warehouse team to manage a broader range of stock more easily.
Sydney Warehouse Fitout
The Sydney project came about because All Purpose Coatings had outgrown their previous New South Wales site.
They moved into a larger new industrial warehouse and needed a racking solution that could support the next stage of their operation. Macrack worked with them from start to finish on the warehouse fitout.
For this site, Macrack installed 362 pallet spaces using selective pallet racking.
Selective racking was chosen because All Purpose Coatings had a variable range of SKUs and needed access to multiple pick faces. The Sydney site also had a few layout considerations. Loading and unloading happened in the same section, and there was an exclusion area for training that needed to be considered in the layout.
The warehouse was also something of a showpiece for All Purpose Coatings, with their own epoxy flooring on display. During installation, the Macrack team worked carefully around the finished floors to make sure the project was completed cleanly and professionally.
Hallam Warehouse Fitout in Melbourne Victoria
Macrack also supported All Purpose Coatings at their Hallam site in Melbourne Victoria.
This project followed a similar story to Sydney. All Purpose Coatings was expanding, growing out of existing premises and needed more pallet storage to support the business in that state.
At Hallam, Macrack installed approximately 260 pallet spaces using selective pallet racking.
The site layout included an office area and a loading section where pedestrian safety needed to be considered. The warehouse racking fitout was predominantly selective pallet racking to store their stock. The important part was understanding the way All Purpose Coatings needed to use the site and making sure the layout supported that.
Choosing the Right Racking for Each Location
Across the three locations, the racking solution was not exactly the same.
At Bundamba, drive-in racking was used where All Purpose Coatings needed higher-density storage for high-volume product in a smaller footprint. It reduced the need for multiple forklift aisles and helped fit more stock into the available space.
At Sydney, Hallam and the later Bundamba expansion, selective pallet racking was the better fit. These areas needed more access to individual pallets and more pick faces for variable SKUs.
That was the practical difference. Drive-in racking was used where density mattered most. Selective pallet racking was used where access and flexibility were more important.
Project Summary
| Location | Racking Solution | Pallet Spaces | Main Requirement |
| Bundamba, Brisbane | Drive-in racking and selective pallet racking | 432 additional selective pallet spaces mentioned | Increase storage capacity at an existing site and support high-volume product storage |
| Sydney | Selective pallet racking | 362 pallet spaces | Fit out a new, larger warehouse after APC outgrew its previous NSW site |
| Hallam, Melbourne | Selective pallet racking | Approx. 260 pallet spaces | Support Victorian expansion into a new location with practical pallet storage |
Supporting All Purpose Coatings as They Grow
The All Purpose Coatings work also shows how Macrack is supporting customers beyond Queensland.
Macrack has always had a strong base in Queensland, but the business now services Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. For customers like All Purpose Coatings, that means they can continue working with one racking partner as they expand into different states.
That is important because Macrack already understands their business, their products and the way their warehouses operate. Each new project does not need to start from scratch.
As Michael explained, Macrack is focused on building relationships with clients rather than treating each project as a one-off transaction.
Ongoing Racking Inspections, Repairs and Support
Macrack’s role with All Purpose Coatings has also grown beyond new racking installation.
The team now supports All Purpose Coatings with annual racking inspections, repairs and maintenance where needed. Michael explained that the professionalism of the annual audit process has helped give All Purpose Coatings confidence that their racking is being kept compliant with the Australian Standards AS4084 2023.
Macrack can repair all brands of pallet racking, but where possible, the team looks to expand the warehouse footprint with Macrack racking, creating a more consistent system across the site over time.
For All Purpose Coatings, that means they have one team that can assist with new racking, inspections, repairs and future warehouse changes.
A Long-Term Racking Partner
What started with one drive-in racking project has become an ongoing working relationship.
Macracks’ focus on customer service, smooth project delivery and ongoing support has helped keep the relationship moving forward.
All Purpose Coatings is now one of Macrack’s major customers, and the projects across Bundamba, Sydney and Hallam show how Macrack can support a growing business across multiple warehouse locations.

Some Of Our Racking Projects

JAT Coldstores
Double Deep Racking is an efficient solution for storing pallets in a limited space, allowing JAT to double their storage capacity in the same number of aisles.

Parmalat
Parmalat’s production facility requires a wide range of storage systems, as they deal with their product from a raw stage through to full distribution.

NIOA
Using a 4 levels raised storage area, Macrack was able to essentially grow NIOA’s floor space the equivalent of an extra 3 football fields, with shelving throughout.
