You may even reduce the size of the warehouse needed and save on your ongoing property costs with a raised storage area. A racking based raised storage area (sometimes referred to as a racking based warehouse mezzanine floor or multi-tier racking system) takes advantage of the air space in a property by building new levels supported by the racking structure. These new levels can be used as additional work floors or increased racking capacity, for stock picking and more.
First In First Out
In a First In First Out racking system the first pallet place in will be the first pallet out.
A simple FIFO racking system is selective racking and a more complex example is pallet flow racking.
Selective Pallet Racking Far North QLD
Selective racking is what most people think of when it comes to pallet racking. This pallet racking option is designed one pallet deep and is ideal for warehouse areas that require constant access to each pallet in the system. To minimise the footprint taken up by aisles, selective racking frames are commonly installed back-to-back.
Last In First Out
In a Last In First Out racking system the first pallet placed in will be the last pallet out. A simple LIFO racking system is double deep racking and a more complex example is push back racking.
Push back racking
Push back racking is a relatively new and innovative technology in the pallet racking world and has a high adoption rate. This system is built on an incline track and cart and can be configured up to six pallets deep. Each pallet added to the system pushes the pallets behind further up the track and when a pallet is removed gravity brings the pallets behind to the front of the system. This improves pallet accessibility in comparison to drive in racking.
Raised Storage Areas & Multi-Tier Racking Systems
Warehouses and storage areas are often built with ample air space. This space is often overlooked and underutilised. So how do you take advantage of this space? The answer is with a raised storage area or multi-tier racking system often called a warehouse mezzanine floor.
A raised storage area is a warehouse mezzanine platform built on top of your warehouse racking system. It can be utilised for a wide variety of purposes including additional racking, workfloor/packing areas and even storing other large items.
A multi-tier racking system, like a raised storage area, is built into your warehouse racking. However a multi-tier racking system can span multiple levels of platforms with each supported by the below level of racking. This system can be custom designed to include a wide variety of storage options. Large items, pallets, stillages and trollies can access this system through forklifts and up and over gates, or through the installation of a freight elevator. Foot traffic can access the system through built in stair cases and aisles. A massive advantage of this system is the ability to reduce the amount of warehouse footprint required for your operation and even reduce foot-travel time for stock picking staff.
